Sofoklis Sotiriou
Dr. Sofoklis Sotiriou has worked at CERN, at the National Center for Scientific Research "DEMOKRITOS" in Athens and in the Physics Laboratory of Athens University. He holds a PhD in High Energy Neutrino Astrophysics and a PhD in Science Education. He is the Head of R&D Department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi, one of the biggest educational institutions in Greece, where has been active in the co-ordination and development of research projects on implementation of advanced technologies (e.g. mobile applications, wearable computers, VR and AR applications, robotics) in science education and training. Since 2001 he is the Director of the Ellinogermaniki Agogi Center for Teachers Training. His main research field is the design, application, and evaluation of virtual and digital media environments that could bridge the gap between formal and informal science learning. He has been involved in a long series of EU joint research and technology funded projects. He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences (since 2003), member of the board of ECSITE (since 2004) and has served as Expert Evaluator to the European Commission FP5 & FP6 Programmes. He has also act as a consultant to the development of the FP7's Science in Society Work programme. He is author of numerous articles and publications on the use of ICT in science education. He is also author of the Science Textbooks that are used in all primary Greek schools since 2003.

Pavlos Koulouris
Pavlos Koulouris graduated with a degree in Greek Literature and Linguistics from the University of Athens, Greece, in 1994. He continued with postgraduate studies and research at the Institute of Education, University of London, UK (1996-2001), specialising in the field of ICT in education, while also expanding his research interests and activity into aspects of applied linguistics, social semiotics, science education, and lifelong learning. His work experience (1997-2001 in the UK; 2001-today in Greece) is diverse, ranging from teaching language and humanities, to academic and applied research in various areas in the wider fields of educational innovation and lifelong learning. Since 2004, he has been working in the Research and Development Department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi focusing on lifelong learning as a developmental catalyst in rural areas, the use of new technologies in language learning and science learning, the organization of digital educational content, and synergies between formal and informal learning.
 
Angelos Lazoudis
Dr. Angelos Lazoudis received his BA in Physics in 1994 (Aristotle's University of Thessaloniki) and his Master's degree in Physics in 2000 at Temple University, Philadelphia USA. During his Master's studies he worked at Temple University Hospital and conducted research in the field of Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). He continued his studies at Temple University and received a PhD in Physics (Quantum Optics / Spectroscopy) in 2005. During his graduate studies at Temple U. his was teaching physics and laboratory (1997-2003) courses as a graduate assistant and as an adjunct instructor (2003-2005). From October 2005 to December 2007, he joined the team of Dr. Wolf von Klitzing at the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas- Institute of Electronic Structure and Lasers (FORTH-IESL) as a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow carrying out basic research as an experimentalist on cold atoms (magneto-optical traps and Bose-Einstein Condensation). In parallel he was collaborating with Prof. Marjatta Lyyra (Temple U.) investigating the quantum behavior of molecules under laser excitation. Since December 2007 he is a member of the R&D of Ellinogermaniki Agogi (EA) working as a researcher/project manager in projects related to science education. As a member of the EA team he has participated in many EU projects about advanced learning technologies (Augmented reality, Wireless embedded systems, Online educational platforms and repositories) in secondary and higher education covering the fields of science, technology and sports.
 
Georgios Mavromanolakis
Dr. Georgios Mavromanolakis graduated from the University of Athens with a Bachelor's Degree in Physics and a Master's Degree in Nuclear and Particle Physics. He did his Ph.D. at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) in Geneva-Switzerland. His thesis was on the development and design of a tungsten/quartz-fiber calorimetric detector, which is now in operation at the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. From Aug 2003 until Jul 2008 he was a Research Associate at the High Energy Physics Group of the University of Cambridge, Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge UK. As a member of international scientific collaborations he worked on the research and development of innovative calorimetric detector technologies for next generation high energy physics experiments. He led the various phases of the R&D programmes, from conceptual design and computational simulation of detector systems, to preparation of testing of prototypes, experimental operation and data analysis. He conducted experimental test campaigns at various research accelerator facilities at DESY/Hamburg-Germany, CERN/Geneva-Switzerland and Fermilab/Chicago-USA. While being employed by the University of Cambridge he was awarded the International Fellowship of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in USA to continue his research as a Guest Scientist of the Division of Experimental Physics Projects (from Jan 2007 until Jan 2009). From Mar 2009 until Dec 2011 he joined CERN as a Research Scientist/Fellow working on the R&D of novel scintillating crystal materials with applications in the fields of particle physics, medical imaging and homeland security. Also as a member of the CMS Collaboration he participated in the data analysis of the experiment and in the preliminary upgrade studies of its detectors. In 2012 he was a Visiting Professor at the University of Cyprus where he taught at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and at the Department of Physics. In Sep 2012 he joined the Research and Development Department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi as a researcher and project manager of EU funded projects on science, technology and education.
 
Katerina Riviou
Katerina Riviou holds a M.Sc. in eLearning, from the Department of Technology and Digital Systems, University of Piraeus, and has attended the Training Programme for Teachers in School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (ASPETE). From 2003 she has participated in several R&D projects related to education and training under the IEE, CIP, eContent Plus, eTen, Education & Culture ELearning Programme and Lifelong Learning Programme as a Research Assistant or Project Manager. She has attended and participated as tutor in Seminars and Workshops on Information Technology in Education and has several publications in national and international conferences. She has also teaching experience in the field of ICT in primary education as well as in vocational training institutions. She is currently working at the R&D department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi.
 
Petros Stergiopoulos
Petros Stergiopoulos received his Diploma in Flute Performance (classes of D.Fotopoulos and U.Ruettimann) from the Conservatory of Athens with magna cum laude in 2002. As a professor of Flute & Chamber Music he holds a versatile and long experience in Flute pedagogy in both Public Secondary Education and Private Music Schools. As a member of the Ellinogermaniki Agogi R&D department his research focuses on pilot ICT methods for musical-instrument-teaching in remote areas that encourage Music as a live-performance art. As a streaming-media coordinator specializing in music-education-linkcasts he has been working on the idea of musical 'sympraxis' using live interactive environments.
 
Nikos Zygouritsas
Nikos Zygouritsas graduated from the National University of Athens, Department of Education Sciences. He was awarded a Master's Degree in Educational Technology from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles. He has worked as a researcher in the Department of Educational Technology in Universite Libre de Bruxelles and as an assistant for the on-line courses in Mons University (Educational Technology Unit). For three years (1999-2002), he worked as an ICT teacher in the European School of Brussels III. Since 2003, he works as a researcher for different European and Greek research and development organisations in the domain of education research and technologies. Since May 2014 he has been member of the Ellinogermaniki Agogi Research and Development team. He has participated in various projects for the application of new technologies in various educational settings, e-learning and teacher training. His main interests and activities are: 1) game based learning, 2) learning objects, metadata and educational repositories, 3) educational design of e-learning systems, 4) early childhood education, 5) action research in e-inclusion, 6) digital gap and 7) teacher training.
 
Dimitra Dimitrakopoulou
Dimitra Dimitrakopoulou graduated from the University of Athens with a Bachelor’s degree in Greek Philology and holds a Master's Degree in ICT in Education. She has worked as an ICT teacher in Ellinogermaniki Agogi Primary school for 11 years. She works at the Research and Development department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi since 2013. She has participated in various funded projects related to the design of educational scenarios based on using new technologies and the implementation of innovative tools and learning approaches in class. She has also been involved in projects regarding the development of students’ digital and media literacy skills.
 
Emmanuel Chaniotakis
Emmanuel Chaniotakis holds a degree from the Physics Department (2006-2011), University of Athens and is currently concluding his Masters Degree (MSc) at the Nuclear and Particle Physics Section of the Physics Department, University of Athens.
He has been working on the Research and Development department of "Ellinogermaniki Agogi" since February 2015 and his main activity is the design of educational scenarios based on using new technologies.
For his degree, he has worked for the Km3NeT experiment in the study and calibration of 13 inch photomultiplier tubes. In this context he has had a contract as a "Physics Student" with the Km3NeT experiment (Mar.2011-Sep.2011).
For his MSc he has worked for the CMS experiment, CERN participating as a co-author in the physics analyses:
"Dijet cross section measurement at 8 TeV" and "Search for Supersymmetry in pp collisions at sqrt(s)=8 TeV in events with two opposite signleptons, large number of jets, b-tagged jets and large missing transverse energy". Both analyses have been approved by the CMS Collaboration.
In the context of his Masters Degree he has participated at the THALES:"NewPhysAtLHC" programme (Nov.2012-Mar.2013) as a scientific associate.
He has also done volunteer research as an undergraduate student at the NESTOR Institute for Astroparticle Physics in Pylos,Messinia, Greece (Summer 2008 and 2009). His work there has produced an internal note which has been cited in several publications of the collaboration.
He has taught high school, IB and university physics in the private sector.
 
Gregory Milopoulos
Gregory Milopoulos is an Educational Technology Researcher of the R&D Department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi. He is an Expert in Project Management of large and complex projects, mainly in the field of Educational Technologies and Digital Storytelling. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from the University of Aegean and a Postgraduate Degree (Master of Science) in Project Management of Techno-economic Systems from the National Technical University of Athens (School of Mechanical Engineering).
Gregory has begun the cooperation with Ellinogermaniki Agogi since May 2017. Before that, from 2009 to 2016 he founded and managed Megaprojects, an R&D consulting company specialising in the exploitation of EU projects' results. A major success of Megaprojects was the conceptualization, proposal preparation and exploitation management of Q-Tales (www.qtales.com) a funded H2020 ICT Innovation Action project which created a Collaboration Ecosystem enabling EU Creative SMEs to exchange digital resources and create multi-plot, 2D & 3D interactive e-books for Children, curated according to Reader ability and educational value.
Before Megaprojects he was the Project Coordinator of the FP7 project "Drugcheck", for Nosis Ltd, with a budget of 1,2 million euros and 8 partners. Drugcheck's full title was "Decision support system for medicinal substances and their interactions". He was also managing the whole submission phase of the PROSPEC ("Promoting EMAS III in Clusters of Printing SMEs") proposal in the Eco Innovation Call of EACI.
During 2006, he was working for Microsoft Hellas S.A as a European Funds Specialist - Local Technical Consultant of The European Union Grants Advisor initiative.
Gregory has been dealing with European Research proposals and projects since 2001, when he joined the R&D Department of Pouliadis Group of Companies. As a Project Coordinator initially and Director of the Department afterwards, Gregory coordinated and took part in more than 30 EU funded projects and proposals, such as CEBOS, W-Response, ALTERNATIVE, ATTRACT, MyGROCER, TELLMARIS and others.
 
Loukas Katikas
Dr. Loukas Katikas (cand.) has graduated from the Environmental Department of the University of Aegean where he specialized in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Environmental Applications development. In 2012 he got his master degree in GIS and Natural Disaster Management from the Geography Department of the University of Aegean. From 2015, he continued his studies at the School of Rural, Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens and he has recently submitted his Ph.D. in Geostatistics and Renewable Energy deployment. His Ph.D. research was focused on Spatial Optimization Algorithms and Spatial Decision Support Systems for location-allocation problems. As a researcher, he participated in several EU projects related to Environmental Protection (EPCA), Environmental and Disaster Risk Management (EMME), Geo-spatial STEAM in education (GOSTEAM) and he worked as a teaching assistant in numerous courses and workshops for GIScience and Environmental Modelling. From 2016 he is a proud member of the 100 Mentors community for mentoring in schools worldwide, covering the fields of Environmental Science, Geography and Geospatial Information Science. His research interests and recent scientific publications lie in the areas of Environmental Applications and GIS, Geostatistics and Optimal Planning of Renewable Energy Sources. He has been working in the Research and Development department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi (EA) since April 2021.
 
Vassilis Liakopoulos
Vassilis Liakopoulos graduated from the Materials Science and Technology Department of the University of Crete (2010). He obtained a postgraduate degree (MSc) in "Microsystems and Nanodevices" from the National Technical University of Athens (2015). His research interests included constructing gas sensors based on graphene and polymer nanocomposites by using optical lithography. From 2015 to 2021, he worked as Educational Programs Consultant at the STEM Education organization. Among his responsibilities included participating in European programs and training staff and teachers in "STEM" and educational robotics methods. He has been working in the Research and Development department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi (EA) since June 2021. The focus is supporting school cooperation, applying an educational approach based on the "Living Labs" methodology in order to enhance "STEM" teaching in students' lives.
 
Maria Manteli
Maria Manteli graduated from the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, from the Department of International Economics and Political Sciences and holds a degree in International Economics. She has worked in several multinational companies, both in Greece and abroad, as a supervisor responsible in risk analysis departments and was in charge of monitoring financial transactions to detect and prevent illegal activities of fraud and money laundering. She has been also a business consultant to start-up companies in the same field. Currently, she is finishing her Master of Science in Organizational Psychology, at the American College of Greece. She has been working for the Research and Development department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi since September 2022 and she oversees the financial and contractual management of all R&D Projects.
 
Thomas Mazarakos
Thomas Mazarakos was born in Athens, studied graphic arts and worked professionally in the graphic design field. Since 2000 he has been active in the field of information technology and the scope of his work includes designing and constructing websites and applications.
 
Lefteris Mousogiannis
Mr Lefteris Mousogiannis has graduated from the University of Wales, Swansea with a LL.B in Law and a Master’s Degree in Commercial and Maritime Law. He has extensive experience in managing legal and notary procedures as well as organizing work groups with focus on maximizing group performance. He has worked as part of the Ministry of Press counsel group focusing on matters of organization and modernization of media and participated, as member of the group, in European Projects. His working experience also includes the evaluation of articles for publication of a daily online newspaper. He has been working for the Research and Development Department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi as member of the Finance and Contracts group.
 
Thalia Tsaknia
Thalia Tsaknia holds a BA in Physics from the Aristotle's University of Thessaloniki and a MSc in Electronics and Telecommunication Systems from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Since 2007, she is working in Ellinogermaniki Agogi and she has long experience in designing and implementing STEM, skills development and environmental educational programs and activities. She is author of the environmental books that are used in the school of Ellinogermaniki Agogi and she has also worked for teachers upskilling and training in STEM activities and new technologies. She has been participated in several EU research projects related to science education with focus on the use of advanced learning technologies and methods (augmented and virtual reality, gamification and storytelling) and on the development of educational support material to enhance the learning process. She is currently working at the R&D department with main interests: Design of programs and activities that could connect Formal with Informal and Non-Formal Education, Citizen Science and Green Citizen Education, Teachers training and support, Inquiry Based and Project Based Learning approaches, Development and Implementation of Green Skills and Sustainability Competences Framework within the school context and application of Living Labs concept in Open Schooling Sustainability Development activities.
 
Alexandra Moshou
Dr. Alexandra Moshou holds a degree from the Mathematics Department (1998–2002), University of Crete. She was awarded a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Department of Mathematics. Her Ph.D. research was focused on the Development of Numerical Methods for Solving Complex Mathematical Problems with application to calculate source parameters of strong and intermediate magnitude earthquakes. She has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Geodynamic Institute, National Observatory of Athens (2011 – 2021) and at the Hellenic Mediterranean University (2017 – 2022). As a researcher, she has participated in several European and International Research Programs as well as written original research papers that have been published in international scientific journals, mainly in the field of Geo-Science. She has also participated in international conferences, has experience in organizing conferences. She has teaching experience in secondary education as well as in universities. She is currently working at the Research and Development department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi.
 
Alexandros Pantazis
Alexandros Pantazis is a graduate of the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering of the Hellenic Mediterranean University. His work experience is focused on Geographic Information Systems, and he is working at the Department of Research and Development of Ellinogermaniki Agogi from January 2024. Concurrently, he is pursuing a Master's degree in "Climate Crisis and Information and Communication Technologies" at the University of Piraeus.
 
Maria Panagopoulou
Maria Panagopoulou has graduated from the Department of Physics of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) where she specialized in Astrophysics. She holds a Master’s Degree in “Didactics and Public Understanding of Science and Digital Technology” from the Primary Education Department of NKUA. Her research interests focus on the teaching of Astronomy, the History and Nature of Science in Education as well as the non-formal education and its collaboration with school settings. Since January 2022, she belongs to the workforce of the Department of Research and Develompent at Ellinogermaniki Agogi.
 
Dimitris Koulentianos
Dimitris Koulentianos holds a BSc in Physics from the Physics Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece and an MSc in Physics from Uppsala University, Sweden. His received his Ph.D degree in 2019 for his doctoral thesis entitled “Double-inner shell vacancies in molecules”. His Ph.D was a cotutelle between the University of Gothenburg in Sweden and Sorbonne University in France. Accordingly, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Argonne National Laboratory, Chicago, U.S.A. and the Center for Free Electron (CFEL) Science of DESY, Hamburg, Germany. He has 30 publications in international peer reviewed journals and 140 citations. In May of 2023 he joined the R&D Department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi and participates in EU funded projects which aim to integrate the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the educational processes.
 
Iliana Ntovolou
Iliana Ntovolou is a graduate of the Department of Physics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) with a specialization in Education. She holds a Master's degree titled 'Microsystems and Nanodevices' from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Her research interests focus on the application of Nanotechnology span several medical physics application areas relevant to diagnosis, treatment, and treatment success (BSc and MSc theses in collaboration with the Medical School of Athens and the NCSR Demokritos, respectively). She has worked in the Greek Atomic Energy Commission in the field of dosimetry and worked as a science teacher in secondary education. Furthermore, she has contributed as instructor to the educational programs of NCSR Demokritos and has served as a robotics teacher in public and private schools. From September 2021, worked in Ellinogermaniki Agogi school as a robotics teacher in primary school, and since September 2023, she is a member of the Research and Development Department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi.
 
Thomas Oikonomou
In 2020–2022, Thomas Oikonomou worked as an Assistant Professor in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the VinUniversity in Vietnam. From 2015 until the beginning of 2020, he was an Assistant Professor in the Physics Department at the Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan, where he was a runner up for the “Best Teacher” award in 2019 as voted by students. He achieved his success by conducting two research fellowships at the University of Crete from 2012 - 2015 and in 2009 at the Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Fisicas in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 2008, he finished his PhD in Nonlinear Dynamical Systems and Bioinformatics at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens in collaboration with the National Center For Scientific Research in Greece. His PhD thesis earned “The best PhD Thesis Award” for that year. He started his journey in academia with a master's degree in General Relativity in 2003 from the Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena in Germany.

Schoolbooks for the Ministry
Teachers of Ellinogermaniki Agogi have authored the official schoolbooks for Science in the 5th and 6th Grade of Primary School, and for German in High School.
