English Department

Our students have their first playful contact with the English language in the 1st and 2nd grade of Primary school. From the 3rd grade of primary school the English language is taught five hours per week. Students are streamed into homogeneous groups corresponding to their level of knowledge. Our materials are introduced in a visually exciting format, based on sound and animation through Interactive Whiteboards.

In the early stages, choral work, language games, role play, songs, chants and rhymes are used extensively to promote an atmosphere of creativity and fun learning. In later stages our teaching methods blend elements from the communicative, task based, structural, functional and CLIL teaching approaches. Our books reflect students' needs and interests and are accompanied by school publications and supplementary worksheets.

StorytellingExtra-curricular activities, cooperative learning, participation in competitions or international, collaborative projects on ETwinning promote a variety of skills in our students. Also our on-going story telling project channels the energy, creativity and expressive abilities of pupils and improves their presentation skills.

Our afternoon programmes cater for students who need additional assistance or wish to accelerate their learning and train for a language degree in a shorter period. The school is an accredited examination center and students can sit for the following exams.

  • FLYERS (A2) University of Cambridge
  • KET (A2) University of Cambridge
  • FCE (B2) University of Cambridge
  • ECCE (B2) University of Michigan
  • CPE (C2) University of Cambridge
  • ECPE (C2) University of Michigan.

Our summer camp is enriched with alternative teaching methods and provides a vibrant learning experience.
