In 1994 the Research and Development Department is founded, through
which the participation of Ellinogermaniki Agogi in international
programs of design, application and assessment of innovative pedagogical
methods and materials is pursued. The Department of Research and
Development actively involves itself in the design of advanced educational
materials, both conventional and electronic. The main pursuit is
the exploitation of state-of-the-art technologies in the education
process so as to enhance teaching and learning. The tools developed
within the framework of educational programmes are the fruit of
cooperation and joint efforts amongst specialists from a variety
of academic fields, with a major focus on information technology,
teaching and learning studies.

Within the framework of meaningful
research, elaboration of educational programmes, and design
and development of technological tools, Ellinogermaniki Agogi
communicates and closely collaborates with the most well known
European universities and research institutes in the fields
of pedagogy and educational technology. |
This effort is governed by solid and fundamental pedagogic principles:
- Cross-curricular approaches to the various subjects
- Intercultural approaches to teaching and learning
- Promotion of learning through cooperation
- Equal and simultaneous development of pedagogical and technological
innovation
Ellinogermaniki
Agogi has participated as coordinator or fellow partner in a number
of projects subsidized by the European Union, in collaboration with
schools, academic institutions and research centers, both in Greece
and abroad. At the same time it has contributed to the development
of software and has published numerous books of educational character.
The outcomes of research are assessed, presented in conferences
and published in international scientific magazines. Educational
tools are applied in teaching and learning, thus complementing and
enriching the traditional teaching method.
The
interaction of the school with academic institutions, the sharing
of views among teachers and specialized scientists in a European
framework, in addition to the use of information technology in the
reality of the school aim at the creation of a school open to the
world at large, of a school which not only responds to the challenges
and requirements of our era, but also paves the way for effective
innovation.
