FOUCAULT'S PENDULUM AT ELLINOGERMANIKI AGOGI

It is well known that a pendulum's oscillation will eventually come to an end due to air resistance and friction. Some modern versions of Foucault's pendulum in order to preserve the oscillation are equipped with an electromagnet which helps to counteract the forces of friction and air resistance.
The pendulum at Ellinogermaniki Agogi has such an electromagnet placed underneath the pendulum at the center of the disk. The electromagnet does not move the pendulum it only gives a slight "push" every 24 oscillations through an electromagnetic pulse providing recouping all energy losses due to friction and air resistance. This way the period of the pendulum remains constant and the pendulum never stops oscillating.
