You can browse the Ad-Hoc.com web page using any Desktop PC or PDA with Pocket Internet Explorer. Server will load different pages, depending on the client device.
The Ad-hoc.com application for PDA developed using Macromedia Flash 5.0. You
have to install Macromedia Flash Player 5 for Microsoft Pocket PC to your PDA.

Some Pocket PC manufacturers like Casio, Hewlett Packard (for the iPAQ Pocket
PC 2002), and Toshiba are distributing Macromedia Flash Player 5 for Pocket
PC 2002 directly to consumers with their devices or from their Web sites. For

After installing flash player, follow three simple steps described below:
Step1: At the address bar write: www.forthnet.gr/adhoc (TIP: you can add this link to the “Mobile Favorites” at your Desktop Explorer and then synchronize with the PDA. With this way the link will be transferred to the PDA favorites) (Image1)
Step2: Press “Enter” from the PDA virtual keyboard or “GO”
Step3: Tap on the “View” menu and: a) Check “Fit to Screen” b) Uncheck “Address Bar” (Image1)

2. Using the Ad-hoc.com tool:
The process of exploring the possibilities of the application is simple enough
by following these simple instructions.
2.1 Select scenario and
language:
Selecting the <Learning scenarios> option from the main web site of
the project will open the scenarios list where you can select the one that interests
you more. Through the choices provided at the top of each page you can navigate
through the applications pages according to your preferences. (e.g. by pressing
Home you will be moved to the welcome page of the application).
Then a screen appears where you are prompted to select the language that the
scenario will be on. Select one of the four available languages Greek, Italian,
English or German.

2.2 Main Ad-hoc.com application
After the language selection the scenario screen appears.
At the top of the screen you are able to view the language and the name of the
scenario. There are four flags next to the scenario screen representing the
different language scenarios. You are able to switch between the Greek, English,
Italian and German scenarios by clicking on the relevant flag.
Using the yellow arrows below you can scroll up and down accordingly on the
scenario text (TIP: tap on the text box to scroll up-down using PDA’s
hardware scrolling buttons). Pressing the question mark (?) you are automatically
moved to a quick help page.

At the bottom of the screen three options are offered helping you to practice:
Exercise, Vocabulary and Movie
- Exercise: provides three different exercises based on the language selected
where you are asked each time to identify the correct statement(s). A statement
is selected when the window next to it is check-marked. Each time a statement
is selected the frame at the bottom of the page confirms or indicates the correct
statements(s). To move on to the next exercise simply press Next that is positioned
on the right bottom of the screen. You can navigate through the exercises by
pressing Back or Next accordingly. To exit Exercises page press the Scenarios
option from the navigation bar on the Top .
- Vocabulary: provides a list of translated words coming out of the selected
scenario. Each vocabulary entry is presented on all four languages. You can
select this option when you want to interpret and comprehend specific scenario
words. You can move to any other pages using the options provided from the navigation
bar on the Top .
- Movie: provides the movie of the selected scenario. This movie is only available
at one language, depended to the scenario. While watching the video, user can
scroll up and down scenario to any language. By pressing the <Turn off>
button the video playing is hided and you can just listen to the sound and view
the scenario text (you can move up and down to the text using the arrows on
the right of the page).

In order to listen to a scenario simply click on the Play button (the one with the triangle on it) which is positioned on the bottom of the screen, besides the Sound: prompt. Right next to it is the Stop button (the one with the square on it) which stops the scenario playing. As soon as a scenario starts to play, some additional buttons appear. The Pause button which interrupts the process (pressing it again will restart the scenario from the point it stopped). The remaining two buttons correspond to moving backwards and forwards to the playing scenario with 2 seconds approximately difference. You can manipulate each scenario by clicking on the relevant buttons.

In order to play a video simply tap on the Movie button. Due
to their large size, video files may need up to 3 minutes in order to be reproduced
sufficiently.
While a video is reproduced, the user can apply all sound buttons in order to
pause, play, stop or move it forward and backward.
Furthermore, by tapping on the Download & open in stand-alone player link,
the user can download the video for off-line reproduction.
Use the navigation bar at the top of the page, or tap on the back button, in
order to return to scenarios main page.
