High School

High school is the level in which students are given the educational foundation for their future life as citizens and mature adults. At this stage our duty is complex: the absorption of scientific concepts, the encouragement of initiatives, the development of sound judgment and the idea of personal responsibility; eventually, the approach to all subjects through various, modern teaching means.
In High school we place emphasis on the quality of lessons, the intense teaching of two foreign languages, the application of all the existing technological means to educational practice and last, but not least, the formation of a complete plan of various activities modulated to a modern teenagers' needs. The official time-table is completed by extra teaching on major subjects and is also supported by our schools' special editions.
The school pays significant attention to modern technology and to the acquisition of knowledge through all kinds of stimuli. Our philosophy is proved by the existence of a great variety of high-tech means:
The exact sciences' laboratory, which is designed for group work and experiments, the numerous multimedia computers, all permanently connected to the World Wide Web, the complete lending library, where most of scientific journals, CD - ROM's Videos and slides can be found and so on.

Student projects have now become an institution at our school. Students set themselves up in groups and work on a selected topic, under the guidance of a specialized teacher.
Thus children have a great opportunity to get in touch with scientific methods, to obtain new experience and even to prove themselves as mature people by producing original solutions to everyday problems.

The German language is taught 6 hours per week, while the English language for 4 hours per week. The final goals are Zertifikat and Cambridge First Certificate respectively.

The student exchange programme between our school and schools in Germany and Austria, along with educational trips to England and the participation in a series of European Union programmes are part of the school's policy to be in close contact with other schools and educational institutions throughout Europe and the rest of the world.
We make sure that our students will, in the end, have all the knowledge, which is, nowadays, necessary for living in the demanding European Union.
We do not confine ourselves to teaching two foreign languages but we also try to familiarize children with other countries' cultures and habits.
This effort cannot be successful, unless based on the teaching of humanitarian values, like mutual respect and tolerance, and of course the teaching of our national and religious values.

Cultural activities are an important element of High school life.
Scientists and significant personalities from the world of art and culture pay regular visits to our school and many conferences and meetings are often organized on various occasions.
All these along with theatrical performances, celebrations and other activities play the role of "bridges" between the school and the world of today. An important institution, which has been recently introduced to our school, is that of the "student counselor".
This teacher's role is to stand by the students and be in the position to listen to their problems an offer serious and effective help.

We should finally refer to the High school sports' programme. Ellinogermaniki Agogi is successfully represented by the school's sports teams, which participate in various tournaments nationally and abroad. Being member of a team helps students cultivate the spirit of sportsmanship and keen competition. For those who are interested, the school's department of athletics offers a vast variety of afternoon sports activities. There are also afternoon cultural courses which include theatre, choir and photography.
